Have you ever considered that we are still connected across the veil to those we love who have died?
I am an end of life doula, accompanying the dying through their end of life process, supporting and guiding them and their loved ones before, during, and after death. I don’t know if I can say exactly when it started, but I see hearts everywhere – in snow and ice, leaves and rocks, water droplets, food I’m eating (yes, really!). Everywhere.
I quickly began to associate the finding of these hearts (or as I say, being found by them) as messages from my clients, from loved ones, and generally from the Universe. Little love notes, if you will, to remind me that I’m cared for, watched over, and never alone.

A year ago, on February 15, 2021, I felt nudged to finally launch an idea I had for a Facebook group to share these signs from beyond. What’s noteworthy about this date in particular is that it would have been my soul sister Laura’s 50th birthday – she died from breast cancer in early 2019. The “nudge” I felt came in the form of obvious hearts found that day, the fact of it being her birthday, and feeling very strongly that this collaboration was coming through her.
See, Laura was all about the “what if…” – not in terms of worry, or “what if the worst thing I can possibly imagine happens”. No, Laura was all about the possibility. “What if…” in the sense of, “What if there is no death? What if What’s Next is actually our greatest adventure? What if all the things we think of as limitations are actually just distractions?” So, even as she was dying, she stayed curious about her experience and wondered into the mystery without hesitation.
Such is the spirit of Love is All Around our Facebook community of nearly 250 people celebrating the magic and mystery of finding (or being found by) hearts. Whatever story we might tell ourselves about where and why hearts show up, there is an unquestionable feeling of love and connection that comes with the finding; the more we become attuned to this love language with the Universe, the more hearts we see, the more we feel found.
What if that’s exactly what our loved ones want us to feel?

In honour of the first anniversary of the Facebook group, what would have been Laura’s 51st birthday, and Valentine’s Day (the holiday of love, no less!), we have launched a t-shirt campaign to flood the world with reminders that our loved ones are with us, and that love is, indeed, all around. Check out the shirts here.
What the world needs now is more reminders of goodness and love. I hope you’ll join us in the celebration!
